Implant Restorations

SkyeView Dental

Overview

A dental implant is only part of the equation. What sits on top of it — the crown, bridge, or denture that completes the restoration — is what you actually see and use every day. At SkyeView Dental, implant restorations are crafted to blend naturally with your surrounding teeth while standing up to the demands of everyday use.

What are implant restorations?

An implant restoration is the visible, functional component attached to a dental implant. The implant itself is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone by an oral surgeon or periodontist. Once it integrates with the bone, a restoration is placed on top to complete the tooth.

  • A single crown for one missing tooth
  • An implant-supported bridge for two or more adjacent missing teeth
  • An implant-supported denture for patients missing most or all of their teeth on an arch

How the restoration process works

After an implant is placed, the bone needs several months to fuse around it — a process called osseointegration. Once the implant is stable, Dr. Carren Langford oversees the restoration phase:

  • Digital impressions or iTero scans of your mouth and bite
  • Shade-matching to your natural teeth
  • Fabrication of the crown, bridge, or denture at a dental lab
  • Secure placement onto the implant via the abutment connector
  • Final adjustments for comfort and bite alignment

Single implant crowns

A single implant crown replaces one missing tooth from root to crown without affecting the teeth on either side. Unlike a traditional bridge, which requires filing down adjacent teeth for support, an implant crown stands entirely on its own. Once in place, you brush and floss around it just like a natural tooth — no special maintenance required.

Implant-supported bridges and dentures

When multiple teeth are missing, implant-supported bridges and dentures offer a more stable alternative to traditional removable options. Instead of relying on gum tissue or remaining teeth for support, these restorations attach directly to implants anchored in the jaw.

  • Greater stability while eating and speaking
  • No slipping or shifting throughout the day
  • Better preservation of the jawbone, since the implants continue to stimulate the bone
  • A more secure, confident fit compared to removable dentures
  • Longer lifespan with proper care

How long do implant restorations last?

With good oral hygiene and regular dental visits, implant restorations can last many years and often decades. The implant post itself is designed to be a permanent fixture in the jaw. The crown or prosthetic on top may eventually show wear and need replacement, but this is generally not a concern for many years after placement.

Caring for your restoration

  • Brush twice daily and floss around the implant like a natural tooth
  • Keep up with routine cleanings and exams
  • Avoid biting hard objects (ice, pen caps) that can damage the crown
  • Let us know about any changes to medications or health history

Payment and insurance

Implant restorations are considered restorative treatment, and many dental insurance plans cover a portion of the cost. Flexible payment options are available through CareCredit and HFD, and we also accept cash, checks, and debit or credit cards.
